I am married with three children. We currently live in El Paso, Texas where my husband is serving with the US Army. I have worked with On Track for two years now. We have been homeschooling our children for nearly 4 years now. Our reasons for homeschooling are like many others but also so that our girls can pursue their music passions. As a family music group we travel to various different festivals for performances throughout the year; therefore traditional schooling is not a comfortable or feasible option.
I have worked with youth for the last 15 years. I am steady working to complete my Masters in Education and know first-hand what it is like to be a non-traditional student. Before my time here at On Track, I worked for an At Risk Youth center in our community, in which I provided services such as tutorial assistance, drug and alcohol educational programs, and school to work program. During my time with the center I learned to be patient with youth while working through academic struggles and how each individual differs in learning styles. Due to this experience I realized that learning does not have to always take place in a "classroom" environment and that all children should be allowed to achieve their dreams and still receive a good education; an education that would move at their pace and not dictated so much by "the system".
I like to say that On Track has come as a huge blessing to me and my family. Working with On Track allows me the freedom I need to be able to support the girls and continue my career. I enjoy working with students from all over the United States as well as other parts of the world. It is very refreshing to work with young people who are focused on their dreams and still understand the importance of getting a good education. I have the privilege to speak, not only from a Learning Coach point of view, but also that of a parent. On Track is a wonderful program that challenges my children and still allow each of them the flexibility they need to work at their own pace. On Track is great school that will allow your student to pursue great academic possibilities.
